Sunrooms |
|
Sunrooms can be a wonderful addition to any home. They give you extra living space for far less cost than a full room addition since they're easier to build and don't have the same structural requirements. And sunrooms can be anything you want, from a bedroom to an office, kitchen, living room, or spa. The only caveat is to be careful which direction they face, so you can maximize the sun exposure without the room becoming too hot. |

The description "sunroom" can include anything from a solarium, atrium, greenhouse, to a room with a skylight. Traditionally, though, it is a room made mostly of glass, giving you full contact with the outdoors without stepping outside. Sunrooms allow you to enjoy the sunshine, or even the stars on a cold winter night, by bringing the outdoors into your home without the nuisance of weather conditions or pests.

There are two main types of sunrooms depending on the glass used. One type has insulated, or double glazed, glass panels - meaning there are two layers with air in-between them. This can help block heat from the sun or keep the room heated more efficiently, giving you greater temperature control. And this type of room is generally referred to as a solarium. The second kind has only single glazed glass. This type is less expensive to build, and still has a variety of features, often including screen doors. |

In addition to the lower cost, sunrooms can be built far faster than traditional additions. With a professional contractor, you could have a new one in as little as a few weeks. |
